About

Big Rocks of Life® is about focusing on what's most important...the big rocks in your life -- they could be family, career, health and fitness, and others. Inspired by the story of the jar of rocks, we remind ourselves to make the time and plan for our big rocks first, before the busyness of day-to-day activities take over our days and weeks.

About Lissa

I’m Lissa, welcome to the Big Rocks of Life®

Like a lot of you, I’m trying to do it all – a million things going on, never satisfied, and not stopping to smell the roses (as my mother always tells me).

I plan to squeeze every ounce out of this life I have, to make the most of time with my family, my career, my personal life. I want it all. Don’t we all?!

Here’s the thing though: For me, it’s all about the Big Rocks – figuring out how to fill my days and time with the most important things in life. Those big rocks make me tick, and I’ve learned to be very careful about which rocks I focus on. That’s what I want to share with you. So Big Rocks of Life® was created to share topics on goal planning, time management, personal growth, celebrating life’s milestones, empowering and motivating one another, and making the most of the short time we all have.

So, let me tell you a little about myself. First and foremost, I’m a wife and mother, with two grown daughters, a son-in-law, large close-knit family, and two dogs that I obsess over.

I’m also a former corporate executive, having held C-level roles at some very well-known brands. I was a woman who had made it, and I fought hard to do so. I was often one of the only female execs at the table. I believe in helping women achieve great things, even though I didn’t always get that warm, fuzzy feeling from people I worked with. It’s tough out there, ladies, but it doesn’t have to be. I look forward to sharing stories of my climb and the challenges along the way, and I hope it helps you as you navigate your own career.

I wear a few other hats … I’m a small business owner running a retail store. I’m a marketing consultant working on projects small and large including retailers, agencies, and for Facebook as part of the Facebook Journalism Project.

And, I’m an adjunct professor teaching digital marketing and e-Commerce to MBA and undergrad students.

So like all of us, I’ve got a couple of things going on!

Once I stepped off the merry-go-round of corporate life, I was given time to figure out what I was really about and how I wanted to make my mark. Turns out, I gravitate towards helping others achieve their goals. In addition to Big Rocks of Life®, I host a monthly group called Goal Driven Women® to empower one another to plan and achieve our goals. Welcome! I'm so glad you're here!
